shoes

March 31st, 2010 § 4

This afternoon I decided to start a major undertaking.  I wanted to clean out the closet and thin out our growing collection of shoes.  Now, keep in mind, there are three girls sharing the same closet, we get lots of hand-me-downs, and we keep shoes forever. So, with that in mind, this is what I found:

I guess it’s about time to get rid of some, don’t you think?  While I was pulling everything out though, I started remembering random things that have happened to me involving shoes…

These are my debate tournament slippers I always looked forward to wearing Friday night.

These were the shoes I wore all around the United States while we were on our 8 month trip.

I was wearing these boots when a horse stepped on my foot and didn’t budge during a therapeutic riding horse show I was volunteering in.

I showed up to orchestra practice one Saturday morning in casual clothes and these flip flops…and ended up playing music during a funeral that was taking place in the same building.

These were my friend Lydia’s amazing red shoes she wore during our graduation last year.  She gave them to me and made me happy :-D .

I was wearing these clunky shoes when I won regionals in LD a few years back.

I left these shoes at a tournament in Houston last year.  It was quite tragic.  But then they showed up at the next tournament that was held there.

These were my favorite Christmas present from last year :-D .

These were supposed to be my debate shoes from last season…but then I left them at home before the first tournament.  So they were promptly replaced with another pair that have seemingly disappeared.

And there you have it.  You never know what you’ll find when you clean out your closet :-D .

I went on a date

I can already hear the collective gasps.  Yes, I went on a date last night.  And the guy I went out with was pretty cute too, folks.

One of these days, he’s going to be a whole lot taller than me, too.  But that’s okay.  He can just be my bodyguard :-D .

Flowers

February 19th, 2010 § 1

Last Friday, I decided to buy flowers for some of my sisters and my mom.  We were just finishing up our first week of foster care, and everyone was working so hard, so it just seemed like something fun to do.  I walked into HEB, only to realize that I was trying to buy flowers the Friday before Valentine’s Day.

That was a complete coincidence that I found rather amusing.  The store was filled with all of these guys buying discounted flowers and cardboard boxes filled with chocolate and teddy bears that said “I love you”.  And then there was Toni, searching for the right bouquet of flowers for her mom.

Then yesterday, I was shopping for my mom at WalMart and saw all of the leftover flowers that were discounted even more since we all know that no one buys flowers unless it’s Valentine’s Day.  They looked so pretty and photogenic…and I really couldn’t help myself.  So I bought some more :) .

Where Am I?
